MacDowell Rugby and Thunder Rugby Announce New Partnership

Robin MacDowell, along with Director of Thunder Rugby, John Lyall and Rugby Canada legend Phil Mack are pleased to announce their new partnership, commencing May 7, 2021. Robin MacDowell is proud and honoured to partner with the team at Thunder Rugby to continue to grow the game in Indigenous communities.

MacDowell and Thunder Rugby share the values of rugby. Along with a common vision and passion to share the values with underserved communities, instilling young players with the ethos that rugby carries with it is something important to Robin MacDowell.

MacDowell and Mack have played together, including internationally, and remain supportive of each other's programs. Along with John Lyall, they have a long-standing relationship of growing rugby throughout British Columbia, most especially among Indigenous groups.

The Mission for MacDowell Rugby is to develop athletes and people, by giving them the tools on and off the field to support their academic, athletic, and life aspirations. The MacDowell Rugby team strongly identifies with the idea of developing an athlete to reach a potential that would otherwise be untapped. Our main goal for our aspiring athletes is to Dream big, Believe in themselves, which will ultimately help them Succeed in rugby and life!

Thunder Rugby is focused on promoting the sport of rugby to Indigenous youth in British Columbia and across Canada in a sustainable fashion; and to having Indigenous culture play a greater role in the development of rugby in British Columbia and Canada.

Phil Mack, representing Thunder Rugby, offers: "I've known Robin for a while, he's a quality individual and is creating an organization to provide youth with the tools and opportunities to succeed at rugby and at life. We feel he's a good match for Thunder Rugby and will help us provide more opportunities for Indigenous youth".

MacDowell Rugby and Thunder Rugby share common goals and look forward to supporting each other in reaching these common goals.
